1.

Our purpose

VSL helps organisations make audio and video content accessible across languages without compromising trust, rights or safety.

We build localisation technology that respects people, protects creative work and supports responsible use at scale.

2.

Who does this Code apply to

This Code of Ethics applies to VSL team members, contractors, partners and users of our websites, platform, Services and APIs.

It complements our Terms of Service and Privacy Policy.

3.

1. Consent and rights come first

No consent, no clone. VSL permits voice cloning or identity-based use only where the customer has explicit permission from the person represented or another clear legal right to use that voice or performance.

Customers must own or be properly licensed to use the scripts, audio, video, music, performances and source material they provide.

VSL does not support unauthorised replication of actors, celebrities, Public Figures or any individual's voice, likeness or identity.

4.

2. No deception, fraud or harmful impersonation

VSL prohibits use of its Services for

scams, fraud, phishing, extortion or social engineering;
impersonation intended to deceive, obtain money or information, or cause harm;
false endorsements, approvals, statements or evidence;
political or election manipulation;
harassment, threats, defamation, hate or exploitation; and
malicious misinformation based on false voice or identity attribution.
5.

3. Transparency and disclosure

Synthetic and altered media should be disclosed when required by law, platform policy, contract or the reasonable expectations of the audience.

Customers must not present synthetic voices or performances as genuine statements or endorsements from a person who did not authorise them.

VSL supports provenance, review and disclosure measures that help audiences understand how content was created or localised.

6.

4. Privacy by design

VSL aims to collect and process only the information needed to provide, secure and support the Services.

Voice and video inputs may contain sensitive personal and confidential information. VSL applies access controls, limits internal access to legitimate business needs and follows the retention and deletion practices described in its Privacy Policy and customer agreements.

Customer Content and Voice Data are not used to train general-purpose AI models without the customer's express written authorisation.

7.

5. Children and vulnerable people

Individuals under 18 cannot create or operate VSL accounts.

A verified enterprise customer may process content involving a minor only where it has all required rights, a valid legal basis and documented parental, guardian or other authorised consent. A voice model of a minor also requires prior written approval from VSL.

VSL will restrict or refuse any use that exploits, sexualises, deceives, manipulates or otherwise harms a child or vulnerable person.

8.

6. Security and content protection

VSL uses technical and organisational controls designed to protect customer content from unauthorised access, misuse, alteration or distribution.

VSL reviews providers and Subprocessors, limits access based on role and business need, and continues to improve security, monitoring, and incident response as the platform develops.

9.

7. Quality, review and cultural respect

VSL designs workflows that support review, quality assurance, approvals, versioning and controlled delivery.

Localisation should preserve meaning, tone and intent while respecting language, culture and context.

Customers remain responsible for reviewing Output before release and for involving appropriately qualified reviewers when required.

10.

8. Fairness, inclusion and accessibility

VSL works to reduce harmful bias, stereotyping and exclusion in voices, translations and outputs.

VSL supports accessibility by helping content reach people across languages, abilities and regions, while recognising that automated output must be reviewed for the intended audience and context.

11.

9. Accountability and enforcement

VSL may investigate credible reports of misuse and may restrict a workflow, remove content, suspend or terminate access, preserve relevant evidence or refer serious matters to rights holders or authorities.

VSL continually reviews its policies and safeguards as technology, risks, laws and industry standards develop.

12.

10. Reporting concerns

If you believe VSL is being used to impersonate someone, violate rights or cause harm, contact support@vslglobal.ai or privacy@vslglobal.ai.

Please include, where available

links or samples of the relevant content;
the account, project or user information involved;
